  1. Tina,

    2. What type of balance is used in the metamorphosis and what is the point of focus? Does either change between the steps or do they remain the same throughout the steps? Be specific in answers.

The type of balance is to the right, and the point of focus is the P shifting to treble clefs. They change during metamorphosis; the P starts as transparent with words, but sort of solidifies as it vanishes, and the clefs become more prominent.

  2. 3 – Project 3 Critique – Perspective

    3. How is perspective used in the overall composition? What type of perspective is used and how does it enhance the composition and/or the transition between steps?

    Student Critiqued: Tina

First, I want to say that Tina’s sequence is lovely and the imagery and the transitions, elements used in each image and colour choices are very effective overall. I wish I could see the images in a larger format and didn’t have perspective as my critique for this great sequence.

The only perspective I really see, and I’m pushing it here, is an inverted “V” that looks like it could be wrinkled paper in the first image. It implies a one-point perspective if it’s something you’ve been asked to look for in an image, but it doesn’t actually stick out as actual fact.

The other perspective that may be in-place but hard to see is a subtle radial perspective, with the lighter green tones in the middle of the first image fading into the darker greens around the edges of the first image.

I want to give Tina the benefit of the doubt and hope the perspective is just being overwhelmed due to the small image sizes. This is such a great sequence of images!

  3. Question 5 – Tina

What do you think of the quality of the design and composition? Is there enough contrast between each of the seven images to get a true feeling of chromatic metamorphosis, explain? If not also explain?

The quality of the design and composition is great. There is plenty of contrast in each of the images. The changes are very subtle yet obvious at the same time and the 2 motifs fit very well together. There is definitely a true feeling on chromatic metamorphosis in these images. Good job.

I think that this piece was really well thought out and executed. The piece starts with a green background and the letter P then as the slides progress it shifts to music notes and sheets of music. The transition between these pieces allows for the viewer to understand the journey that is being laid out before them. Each of the sequence pieces is similar to the other and allows to coexist while still standing out with different prominent features. Great Job!

  5. BONUS QUESTION

    Tina,
    2. What type of balance is used in the metamorphosis and what is the point of focus? Does either change between the steps or do they remain the same throughout the steps? Be specific in answers.

The type of balance used in the metamorphosis is unbalanced and shifted to the right. The framing of the green serves to balance the whole composition, but the blank space to the left is screaming for something to be put there. The point of focus being the “P” may not seem like much of a stretch; it is only reinforced as the sequence moves forward. The treble cleft icon gather around it and the music that eventually fills the left side of the composition even has an implied line pointing toward the “P” (as you read the sheet music notice how it’s tilted).

    Using Color
Name 3 ways using color enhances the chromatic metamorphosis from sequence to sequence?

Very interesting piece the use of cool colors and warm colors such as reds and greens gives the piece certain balance, the metamorphosis trough slides keeps the mood of calmness.
I like it very much just like music in this composition the balance that you achieved is awesome!
